Jan Selby
Project Lead
Jan Selby is Professor of International Politics and Climate Change at Leeds. He is PI on METHPOL, in which capacity he oversees all of its work and is undertaking research on the evolution of global methane governance. George Cusworth
Research Fellow
George an interdisciplinary researcher with a broad training in the humanities and social sciences. Focusing on food and agriculture, he uses geographical, anthropological, STS, sociological, and philosophical methods to understand how humans and nature are connected through agricultural landscapes. George is particularly interested in the way complex ecosystems get known through different scientific and cultural representations. George works closely with those in the natural sciences to understand the ways in which science, technology, society, and dynamics of environmental change are entangled in an age of socio-ecological crisis.
Mihaela Gaglioti-Verlan
Research Fellow
Mihaela Gaglioti-Verlan is a Research Fellow on METHPOL. She is interested in the political and economic dimensions of natural resources and critical minerals, exploring questions of state power, industrial policy, and the reorganization of global production networks amid geoeconomic shifts. Mihaela holds a dual PhD in Political Economy from Copenhagen Business School and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Clara McDonnell
Research Fellow
Clara McDonnell is a post-doctoral researcher with the METHPOL project. She has a background in International Development Studies and her research to date has focused on pension funds, financial climate action, and fossil fuel phaseout. Jamie Hartley
PhD Researcher
Jamie grew up in the Lake District in the north of England, and initially studied at Lancaster University, graduating in 2022 with a BA in Politics and Philosophy. Moving to Leeds shortly after to study an MA in Global Political Economy at the University of Leeds, he has since spent two years working in the social research sector, particularly focusing on coordinating nationwide educational assessments as part of wider research projects. More recently he spent several months travelling and volunteering in Aotearoa New Zealand before returning to Leeds as part of the METHPOL project. In the project his primary research focus will be on methane emissions from the waste sector, particularly those from landfill facilities, with an emphasis on understanding these processes in their regulatory, political and social context.
Egi Primayogha
PhD Researcher
Egi Primayogha is a PhD Researcher at the University of Leeds, working on the METHPOL project. His work focuses on politics and corruption, particularly their connections to ecological dynamics and the relationship between business and power. He holds an MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex.
Bertie Morris
Administrator
Bertie provides administrative support on the METHPOL project. They studied French and German at the University of Leeds and have since worked in various admin roles in various sectors.
